A common druid variant is to allow for partial shapeshifting, which the Circle of the Moon provides at level 14 through its unlimited used of Alter Self. This Circle seeks to provide a similar bonus at a lower level while also entertaining the idea of those who protect nature whose blood is tainted with an inner, ferocious beast.

Tainted Shapes: Beginning at 2nd level, a Druid of the Circle of the Lycan can use a single use of their Wildshape ability to become a cross between their natural self and a terrible beast. When a Druid of the Circle of the Lycan chooses to cast Wildshape, he may instead choose a Hybrid form. While shifted in this manner, you can wear all of your gear but cannot wield manufactured weapons. While shifted in this manner, you can still cast spells.
A Hybrid form yields the following benefits. While shifted, you gain Darkvision out to 60 feet. Your base land speed increases by 10 feet. You gain an additional hit point per Druid level. You gain a Claw attack which deals 2d4 slashing damage plus your Strength or Dexterity bonus and a Bite attack which deals 1d6 piercing damage plus your Strength or Dexterity bonus. These natural weapons are also considered Monk weapons. You can only attack with one of these on an attack roll, but can use both during a two-weapon strike.
A partially shifted Druid cannot be knocked out of its hybrid form by taking too much damage.
All other rules apply as normal.
Circle Rage: You gain the Relentless Attacks ability as a Barbarian does. You also gain a Rage ability which can be used as a Barbarian of 1/2 your level. Your Druid levels stack with levels of Barbarian for determining your base Rage ability, but no other enhancements to Rage.
Fangs and Claws: Your Bite and Claws while shifted are considered magical for the purposes of overcoming damage reduction. Additionally, while shifted, you gain Extra Attack, which allows you to make one additional attack per turn when you use the attack action.
Cunning Action: Beginning at level 10, you can use your bonus action to perform a Dash, Dodge, or Disengage as a bonus action while in your base form or under the effect of Hybrid Shapes.
Savagery: Your Bite deals 1d8 damage. Your claws deal 2d6. Additionally, once per day you can reroll one saving throw with Advantage. You must take the new result, even if it is lower than the original. You regain the use of this ability after a short or long rest.
