You create three glowing darts of magical force. Each dart hits a creature of your choice that you can see within range. A dart deals 1d4 + 1 force damage to its target. The darts all strike simultaneously, and you can direct them to hit one creature or several.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, the spell creates one more dart for each slot level above 1st.

First Proposed Modification:
At Higher Levels. Each slot produces 2 additional darts.
Damage change: 3d4+3 + up to 8 darts (8d4+8) => 3d4+3 + up to 16 darts (16d4+16). Average damage of a dart = 2.5+1 = 3.5; 3.5 * 8 = 10.5 + 28 vs. 3.5 * 16 = 10.5 + 56
Why? Magic Missile Machine Gun. Awesome.

Comparison: Damage Standard (Fireball):
Average Single Target Damage: 8d6 (3.5 * 8 = 28) + up to 6d6 extra (3.5 * 6 = 21) or 49 for single target. Total damage increased by double this for each additional target with chance for 50% damage (0% if Evasion)

You throw a glowing dart of magical force which deals 1d4+1 force damage to a target you can see.
At higher levels you can create more darts, which can be directed at the same foe or multiple.
5th: Second dart.
11th: Third dart.
17th: Fourth dart.
