Of all the books I had to read for marriage, Dave Harvey, When Sinners Say “I Do”: Discovering the Power of the Gospel for Marriage (Wapwallopen, PA: Shepherd Press, 2007)., was easily the most pastoral, funny, and practical. For Christians, Harvey utilizes a working theology of sin to help convey the weight of marriage for those with a poor or calloused understanding of sin. Nonbelievers will find it hard but rewarding to try to understand a Christian perspective on marriage. Chapters five and six were worth the book, both being marvelous chapters filled with hope. The rest of the book is sheer bonus.
